![]() ![]() Awfully glad I didn’t quit reading way back when, because all of the books since then have provided me exactly the sort of peaceful escape I need every now and then. The sense, if you will, that life matters because of connection. No, instead I find myself turning to these books when I am seeking calmness, thoughtfulness, and the reassurance that there are still people possessed of moral courage on this planet we currently call home. It is probably worth noting for the record that as is with the case with Louise Penny’s Armand Gamache Three Pines series, I do not spend time in our main protagonist’s world for the mystery/ies proper, so much. Which is exactly what she did with A Sunlit Weapon. ![]() 11 in this series (to which I gave 2 stars in the summer of 2016) that Jacqueline Winspear went back to what worked with her Maisie Dobbs series in particular, more Maurice, more family (by birth and by choice), and more about how the health of mind and body are inextricably linked. ![]() I am so glad that after a significant bump in the road with No. ![]()
